Restaurants we’ve tried

  • Suwanna (Bicester, UK): Good, local Thai food.
  • Nags Head on the Thames (Abingdon, UK): Sat outside overlooking the river.
  • Bure Farm (Bicester, UK): 1.5 miles from home.  Yummy rotisserie chicken.  Nice, large outdoor seating area.
  • Black Bird Pub (Caversfield, UK): local pub close to base
  • Taipan (Milton Keynes, UK): ok Chinese food in the theater district
  • Merchants Inn (Rugby, UK): great pub with a large projector TV
  • Cabbage and Condom (Bicester, UK): Thai restauraunt Brad originally visited in Bangkok
  • Steve’s Snack Shack (Bicester, UK): food truck in the layby on B4100.  Great breakfast sandwiches
  • Trigger Pond (Bucknell, UK): yummy food, big menu and outdoor seating
  • Pizza Express (Bicester, UK): good thin crust pizza and tasty calzone
  • Al-Andalus (Oxford, UK): not too expensive tapas in North Oxford
  • G & D’s Café (Oxford, UK): pretty good homemade ice cream
  • Shakil’s (Bicester, UK): Indian in town.  Not the best we’ve had, but was good.
  • Barberry’s Fish and Chips (Bicester, UK): Great fish and chips a mile from the house.  Take out only.
  • Pudding Face, The Pie Place (Deddington, UK): Amazing freshly made meat pies.  One of my favorite restaurants.  Extensive menu and good dessert options.
  • The Plough (Bicester, UK): close pub with really good food and a cool bar/dining room
  • The Lighthouse (Oxford, UK): great pub right on the water with good appetizers
  • The Chequers (Oxford, UK): pub in downtown Oxford down a small alley.  Beer garden looked great, but we sat inside.
  • Turf Tavern (Oxford, UK): only drank here, but really interesting pub down small alleyways.  Nice expansive outdoor seating.
  • Milk Shed (Weston on the Green, UK): our favorite breakfast spot.  Also amazing ice crream.
  • Thee Baguette Shop (Brackley, UK): delicious and inexpensive take away baguettes
  • Judge’s Lodging (York, UK):  had chips and ploughman’s lunch.  Good food and ambiance.
  • Black Swan (York, UK): food was just ok.  Strange 90s music playing in the dining room.  Wouldn’t go back.
  • Rodi (Edinburgh, Scotland):  Great Mediterranean right near the Air B&B
  • El Cartel Mexicana (Edinburgh, Scotland): Great food and margaritas off the beaten path.  Mexican tapas style.
  • Burger (Edinburgh, Scotland): basic burger joint with good milkshakes and fries.  Got it as takeaway.
  • Loudons Cafe: great takeaway breakfast with a huge menu
  • The Ship (Caton, UK): A little pricey, but was just a short walk down the path from the Air B&B
